Steady state heat transfer to blood flowing in the entrance region of a tube

Abstract In the present work we have obtained the numerical solutions of the momentum and energy equation for blood flowing in a tube. It is assumed that the non-Newtonian behavior of blood can be expressed through the Casson equation. The numerical procedure used is that of Patankar and Spalding [1]. The results have been obtained for the two cases, (i) the uniform surface temperature and (ii) the uniform surface heat flux and for the yield number Y(= τ y D u μ ) = 0,0.1, 1, 2, 5, 10 m and 20 .
