M-mode echocardiography image and video segmentation based on am-fm demodulation techniques

A novel methodology to automatically segment all the walls present in M-mode echocardiography images in order to determine the ventricular chamber dimensions and wall thickness is proposed using amplitude-modulation frequency modulation (AM-FM) demodulation techniques. Preliminary results show method's capability to segment the left ventricular posterior wall and the left ventricular side of the interventricular septum. using these results three measurements are possible: left ventricular posterior wall (LVPW) thickness, left ventricular dimension (LVDD) at end-diastole and left ventricular dimension (LVSD) at end-systole.
