Towards Prestressed Thin-Sheet Glass Concrete Products

Thin sheet concrete products are receiving increased attention due to the large number of potential applications. By using crushed glass as an aggregate, a multitude of different esthetic effects can be produced, included numerous architectural and decorative uses. Thin sheet concrete products are most effectively reinforced wit fiber mesh, made of either polypropylene, AT-glass or other types of materials. This paper will discuss the elimination process by which the most appropriate type of fiber mesh was selected. The paper points out various technical problems of prestressing and anchoring the fiber mesh as well as other issues that will need to be resolved before these products can be mass produced.
