Research and application of a robot orientation sensor

A newly developed high-accuracy, low-cost orientation sensor is introduced. It consists of magnetic sensors and accelerometer and can provide accurate and real-time absolute orientation information for autonomous mobile robots. Factors which influence the accuracy of the sensor are analyzed and compensation techniques are also described. Experimental results are also given.
