A SMART PHOTO CAPTURE DEVICE

In this research a system for issuing identification cards is designed. The system allows capturing, processing, and storing candidate photos, in quick manner. A computerized smart device is designed to adjust the pan, tilt and zoom of the camera automatically. ID cards are then printed easily. The system may be configured upon the foundation needs and it is capable of capturing photos and issuing 10 cards per minute. The system is implemented and tested successfully at the Projects and Research Lab of the Islamic University of Gaza. Then it is adopted by the university admission and registration office for issuing students ID cards. By using this system they succeeded to renew student photos and ID cards for all university students (about 14000 students) within 2 weeks. The system proved that it is cost effective, fast, robust, and user friendly.
