Objective: To understand the stress distribution of three-dimensional finite element analysis of zygomatic arch under different loading conditions and explore the feature of biomechanical reaction. Methods: The zygomatic arch data scanned by Spiral-CT was used to establish 3D model by software. Then different forces(10N、30N、60N、90N、 120N、150N) were applied to the specific position of zygomatic model by the use of UG NX5.0 software. The stress distribution and displacement were recorded and analyzed. Results: The stress concentration positions under six different stresses were focus in three high stress regions, the turning point of roots of zygomatic arch, zygomaticotemporal suture site and near the end of the turning point of zygomatic bone. The maximum stress value of zygomatic model was higher than others when the stress acting on the middle part of the zygomatic arch. Conclusions: The mechanical mechanism of common fracture site in the zygomatic arch was explained, which provided guidance and feasible foundation for the design of new zygomatic arch fracture fixation device.
