Apparatus and method for multimedia communication interworking internet and mobile network

PURPOSE: A call inter-working apparatus and method for multimedia communication service in different kinds of network is provided to offer multimedia communication service, like audio/video phone service, without lowering tone quality or delaying time in a call between different kinds of network. CONSTITUTION: An MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(15) provided with a VLR(Visitor Location Register), processes mobile communication subscriber calls. Connected with a BSC(Base Station Controller)(16), the MSC(15) carries out the call setup and cancellation of an MS(Mobile Station)(17). The VLR temporarily stores subscriber information related to the MS(17) while the MS(17) is in a region controlled by the VLR. An HLR(Home Location Register)(21), connected to the MSC(15), manages mobile subscribers' various information. Linking with the MSC(15), the HLR(21) executes a subscriber location registration function and stores permanent information and location information for the MS(17) and the subscriber. A signal interface unit(18) interfaces a signal between an internet/intranet network and a mobile phone network. A media conversion part(22) carries out the audio and video transfer between a packet network and a PCM network based on internet.
