Isolation and identification of α‐methylene‐butyrolactone, A fungitoxic substance from tulips

A fungitoxic substance has been isolated from extracts from the white skins of tulip bulbs, from the fleshy bulb scales and from the flower pistils. The compound was identified as α‐methylenebutyrolactone.
