Design and Manufacturing of a Low Head Banki Turbine

The paper presents the design and the manufacturing plan of a new Banki turbine for very low heads, in the domain 0.6-0.9-1.2m. After analyzing the working parameters and the design conditions, a rotor having 24 blades was designed. The section of rotor blades is semicircular, which is very advantageous from the point of view of the manufacturer, because the blades can be constructed from pipes cut-off along the generating line. In order to strengthen the rotor, the blades of the turbine are inserted in the undercuts of four rotor disks. The main advantage of the proposed machine is the simplicity of the manufacturing solution.
