Storage and I/O virtualization, performance, energy, evaluation and dependability (SPEED08)

The 1st International Workshop on Storage and I/O Virtualization, Performance, Energy, Evaluation and Dependability (SPEED08) was held in conjunction with HPCA 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 17, 2008. This was the first in a planned series of similar workshops to bring together systems architecture researchers and practitioners to explore new ideas in the design, implementation, evaluation, and analysis of storage and I/O systems, and associated issues of data management. The 7 papers in this section have been selected from the 13 papers presented at the workshop, which were chosen from 20 submissions. Each submission was reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee. The articles appearing here are extended versions of papers presented at SPEED’08. The papers fall into five timely thematic areas: Resource Management and QoS (3 papers), Object Based Storage (2), High Performance Computing (1), and Novel Architectures (1).
