Ultrasonic Levitation and Positioning of Samples

Several problems on the levitation and contact-free position control of samples using ultrasonic energy were studied in development of an integrated positioning system for space processing. A method which employed a single ring-type radiator was proposed for multiaxial positioning with free access. Positioning in the standing wave field of a cylindrical tube was also studied. Finite element simulation was conducted to evaluate the magnitude and stability of the positioning force acting on a sample in a tube.
