AGATHE: an Agent and Ontology based System for Restricted-Domain Information Gathering on the Web

Due to Web size and diversity of information, relevant information gathering in the Web is a very complex task. The main problem with most information retrieval approaches is neglecting the context of the pages, mainly because search engines are based on keyword-based indexing. In this paper we present the software architecture and the functionalities of the AGATHE system, a system for restricted-domain information gathering on the Web based on software intelligent agents and ontologies, based on the MASTER-Web system.
