PRIMARY FREQUENCY CONTROL PARTICIPATION PROVIDED BY DOUBLY FED INDUCTION WIND GENERATORS

This paper describes a control approach ap- plied on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) to provide a frequency regulation capability. The control scheme proposed consists in the integration into active power con- trol loop of the rotor controller of an additional control loop responding proportionally to the system frequency deviation providing a primary frequency regulation capa- bility. This strategy was exploited to allow wind power penetration in large isolated grids.
