Effects of fissures on stability of unsaturated soil slope

Landslides of stiff fissured clay often occurred during/after rainfall.Based on the generalized consolidation theory of unsaturated soils, coupled analysis of deformation of soil skeleton and movement of pore water and pore air in stiff fissured clay and swelling soil were performed for a selected slope. In the analysis, the effect of rainfall and existence of fissures was simulated, and the calculated results with and without consideration of existence of fissures in the slope were also compared.
