In this paper, the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equation coupled with energy equation was solved in order to find a cold region and investigate a water temperature profile inside pipe for various locations of electrical heat trace. A commercial code(ANSYS-FLUENT) was used for the present simulations. Locations of heat trace were 6 o"clock, 12 o"clock, 3 o"clock and 4 and half o"clock. It was found that the minimum and average temperatures of water are different for each case because the buoyancy effect varies with the location of heat trace. Further, it was also found that water moved down when it was heating up from 0°C to 4°C with the 12 o"clock trace since water density is highest at 4°C.
