Recently flash memory is widely used in portable embedded devices such as smart phones, netbooks, and tablet PCs. The power of portable devices easily drains off because of external shock and battery exhaustion, which it results in an abnormal power failure. As a result, the consistency of file system is broken and this causes loss of the user data and requires much time to recover the file system. Therefore, it is necessary to guarantee reliability for the user data and fast crash recovery for file system. In this paper we propose a Flash File System for Fast Recovery (FFS-FR), which uses link between inodes for flash file system based on CFFS (Core Flash File System). FFS-FR can quickly recover the consistency of metadata by reading only inodes instead of reading the whole flash area. The experimental results shows that the recovery time of the proposed technique is 450, 150, 450 times faster than that of YAFFS, JFFS2 and CFFS.
