The compressive strength properties of calcium hydroxide, zinc-oxide eugenol, and zinc phosphate base material were studied in relation to their ability to withstand pressures of amalgam condensation. Under laboratory conditions, all materials had more than the minimum strength required (somewhere between 100 to 170 psi) to support condensation forces.
