A review of fault ride through strategies for different wind turbine systems

This paper discusses the behavior of wind energy systems in grid fault events and existing strategies for these systems to ride through the faults. Various issues of wind power conversion systems with different generators in case of grid faults are described. Finally, existing enhancement methods of fault ride through capabilities to meet the main grid codes for each type of wind turbines are shown and simulations are carried out for illustration.
