Power allocation with proportional fairness in user cooperation networks

How to balance efficiency and fairness concerning resource allocation in cooperative networks is an interesting research problem. Under the assumption of decode-and-forward (DF) cooperative scheme, this paper studies power allocation problem in user cooperation networks with two users transmitting to a common destination. Specifically, centralized and distributed power allocation schemes are presented to achieve proportional fairness while maximizing the overall rate of cooperative users. Moreover, we extend the analysis to the scenario that each cooperative user has no channel state information (CSI) about non-adjacent links. Numerical results verify the effectiveness of our proposed power allocation algorithms.
