DSP based real-time implementation of a space vector modulation scheme for three-phase three-level NPC converter

Three-phase three-level NPC converters are nowadays widely utilized in renewable energy conversion devices such as wind and photovoltaic energies. In this framework, this paper presents a straightforward real-time implementation method of a space vector modulation scheme (SVPWM) for a three-phase three-level NPC voltage source converter. This method proposes also the use of multiple stationary reference frames so as to simplify the localization procedure of the reference vector as well as the theoretical computation of the duty cycles. The control algorithm is implemented on the DSP TMS 320F28335 of Texas Instruments. Experimental investigations are carried out on a laboratory prototype of the converter and emphasize the effectiveness and validity of the proposal.
