Dynamic Visualization of Dam Construction Process Based on Virtual Reality

By using high-performance graphics rendering engine, virtual reality (VR) technology is introduced for the complexity of dynamic simulation to develop the dam construction process visualization system. In this paper, the cofferdam demolition model and the integration model of visualization system and computer simulation are set up, and then an interactive mechanism is built with Crazy Eddie's Graphical User Interface(CEGUI)to achieve a realistic, three-dimensional real-time and interactive virtual scene. With a study case, it is proved that the system can present the specific space-time states and logical relationships of all objects in the construction system, and it will be a powerful analytical tool to optimize the construction management of hydropower projects.
