Analysis of One Phase Loss Operation of Three-Phase Isolated Buck Matrix-Type Rectifier with Eight-Segment PWM Scheme

In this paper, the commutation method and transition from one phase loss to normal operation (three-phase operation) with eight-segment PWM scheme is analyzed for isolated Buck matrix-type rectifier. With the proposed commutation method, a safe transition from one phase loss operation to normal operation and vice versa can occur with minimum switching actions (two-step commutation). All the MOSFET switches are turned ON under zero voltage switching (ZVS) condition in both normal and one phase loss operations. The performance of the converter (output voltage, input grid currents and THD) with a phase loss operation is evaluated and verified by the experimental results obtained from a 5kW prototype.
