Einsatz eines Buschhäckslers zur Sekundärwaldnutzung in tropischen Brachesystemen

Applying slash-burning for farmland prepreparation in tropical agricultural system has, besides the known adverse ecological side effects, considerable impact on the long-term yield potential of land. The sustainability of the systems can only be maintained through substituting slash-burning by mulching systems. Up till now technologies were not available to change to mulching. A bush chopper developed in Gottingen is an approach for mechanising non-burning land prepreparation. First tests were carried out in the autumn of 1997.
