A compact meta-atom for dual band negative permittivity metamaterial

In this letter, a compact design of electric meta-atom has been proposed as a dual band negative permittivity metamaterial. Compared with the earlier work, the proposed dual band meta-atom has a better coupling strength at both the resonances and it is also more compact. This dual band design utilizes the mechanism of the resonance coupling between a meander line loaded delta loop meta-atom and a rectangular close ring meta-atom. The proposed meta-atom is designed and investigated by both simulation and experiment with good agreement. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 57:1152–1156, 2015
