A fault tolerant FIR adaptive filter

An adaptive finite impulse response (FIR) filter is presented that has the ability to compensate for faults in the adaptive coefficients. The fault tolerance is provided by a transform domain adaptive filter which is connected in parallel with the time domain adaptive filter. It is shown that a transform always exists that allows the new structure to tolerate any N coefficient faults, where N is the filter order. The convergence characteristics of the adaptive structure in the fault-free case are also discussed.<<ETX>>
