使用Microsoft(上標 ®) Office開發乳房攝影之BI-RADS(上標 ®)資料監測系統

Mammography audit is an important issue for a breast imaging center to fit the MQSA (Mammographic Quality Standard Act) in the United States. In Taiwan, this regulation is also deployed by DOH (Department of Health) and already applied in several medical centers. However, the data management is time-consuming and much effort to do. Using popular software to help us doing the job is an ideal and low-cost solution for this problem. A popular software ”Microsoft(superscript ®) Office” is used to develop the system. Initially, a database created in the Microsoft(superscript ®) Access for recording each mammographic study. Every study should be recorded with its nature (screen or diagnosis), date, BI-RADS(superscript ®) assessment category as well as patient demographic data. The accession number could be the key to identify each record. While doing audit, use the search function to query the database for all records with category of 0, 4 and 5. After reviewing the cases, a proper result should be filled into the record, e.g. true positive, false positive, etc. In final calculation, case numbers of each BI-RADS(superscript ®) auditing item will be counted by the software. Transfer these data into Microsoft(superscript ®) Excel, based on the screening case numbers, the data could be easily generated according to the BI-RADS(superscript ®) guideline. With this software design, our mammographic data audit could be easily generated and follow the requirement of BI-RADS(superscript ®) outcome monitoring. The items include PPV1, PPV2, PPV3, cancer screened, minimal cancer percentage, and recall rate, etc. Use the popular software for mammographic data audit will cost much less than any mammographic tracking system in the market. This also helps us to avoid time- consuming traditional paper works. However, the data integrity and maintenance should be kept an eye watching. Frequently back up the database will be mandatory for data safety
