Improved genetic algorithm and its application in optimal dispatch of cascade reservoirs

According to the characteristics of optimal dispatch of cascade reservoirs for hydropower stations the mathematical model for solving the multi-stage optimization problem is established.To overcome the disadvantage of low ability of local searching and easy-premature of standard genetic algorithm,the coding approach,new genetic operator and hybrid algorithm are introduced to improve the algorithm.On this basis the hypercube floating-point coding adaptive genetic algorithm(AGA)and hypercube floating-point coding genetic simulated annealing algorithm(SA-GA)are suggested.The comparison of the application of 16 kinds of genetic algorithm to optimal dispatch of the Yalong River cascade reservoirs shows that the improved algorithms proposed in this paper are effective.The advantage of genetic algorithm is further verified by comparing the calculation results of dynamic programming method.
