A mathematical formalism has been proposed from which it is possible to evaluate the approximate trajectory of the shotgun wadding components. The trajectories of these components of 12 bore, 2.5 inch, shotgun cartridges manufactured in India have been calculated and compared with the experimental data available in literature. As only some measure of agreement between the experimental and the calculated results has been observed, a high speed photographic analysis of the motion of the wadding components has been suggested.
