Network Connectivity of IPTV STB Low Power Mode

In this paper, a solutions for remote waking-up IPTV Set Top Box(STB) in low power mode through IP networks is presented. With the solutions, the STBs can be in low power mode while it is not in use. Also, the STBs can be waked up from remote site when there are maintenance tasks to be executed. There are barriers to wake up a STB in low power mode from remote. And STBs can be installed in various network environments. The barriers and possible solutions are described. With the solutions, the STBs can be in low power states while required tasks can be performed as necessary after the wakeup. Proposed solution can be applied to IT devices that have similar network interface and communication environment to the STBs.
