Application of Octadecylamine Emulsion for Lay Up Protection of Thermal Power Equipments

The main factors influencing octadecylamine (ODA) film formed on 20A carbon steel were studied by autoclave test and polarization curves. Results showed that steel specimen was passivated for protective film had formed on the surface treated by ODA emulsion at high temperature. The filming effect was best as ODA concentration was 20 mg/L and pH was 9.5. The performance of ODA protective film was improved with the increase of temperature. The filming effect was strengthened with time gone but weakened as the time was longer than 1 hour at 280℃.
