Fast 3D simulation for ultrasound transmission tomography

The paper presents a simulator of 3D systems for ultrasound transmission tomography. Generation of synthetic data is needed for development of image reconstruction techniques for such systems. Currently available methods for realistic simulation are computationally not feasible for large simulation volume. Therefore we present a simulation tool based on straight-ray approximation, which enables simulation of the imaging process in 3D ultrasound transmission tomography. The generated data are compared to signals measured using a real system.
