Research on power density improvement design of an HEV using induction machine based electrical variable transmission

In recent years, a new type of electromechanical energy convertor with dual-rotor structure called EVT was brought out, it can implement the function of CVT, clutch and ISG respectively and thus revealed great application potential in the development of new HEV technology research. Now the researchers have designed different type and structure of such a prototype based on different electric machine type as IM, PMSM and SRM. Presently, one key confinement factor to actual application of this electromechanical system rest with its huge volume and mass compared with traditional mechanical transmission system. So for the earlier achievement of actual vehicle loading experiment and to satisfy the vehicle's structure, it is urge to research power density improving method of EVT . This paper aimed at a car vehicle's condition simulation and ultimate operation point calculation, thus decided the two machines' main design index of both integrated and split EVT, prototypes were designed on this basis, and compared their power density as well as structure rationality, the more suitable style is chosen and optimal design is done.
