Lateral geniculate neurons of cat: retinal inputs and physiology.

correspond to the EM counterpart retrograde degeneration that one sees with Fink-Heimer techniques? LUND: The Fink-Heimer stains demonstrate dense degeneration and show degenerating axons, terminals, and cell bodies. It might be reasonably expected, therefore, that the postsynaptic dense degeneration shown here after cortical lesions would be stainable by the Fink-Heimer methods. CURTIS: What about the endings of fibers which fluoresce? LUND: Terminals containing granular vesicles are rare in the geniculate, but, of course, it is quite possible that some of the agranular vesiclecontaining terminals fluoresce.
