This paper proposes a low-power battery State-of-Charge(SoC) monitoring system using the power management technique. The SoC monitoring system consists of a signal detection part and a processing and control part. It precisely estimates the SoC of the battery by using the coulomb count method. In order to reduce the power dissipation of the monitoring system, the monitoring system operates in a normal mode, a standby mode and a sleep mode by the power management unit. It reduces current consumption by the maximum 90% of the normal mode by the mode change. The signal detection part with 1.8V and 2.5V power supply is fabricated with 0.25㎛ HV CMOS process, and the processing and control part with 1.2V and 2.5V is fabricated with 90nm CMOS process. Also, the monitoring system is fabricated with 48-pin System-in-Package(SiP) to reduce the size of the application board.
