Experimental investigation of packet loss ratio performance of burst-mode receivers in GPON

We experimentally study the packet-loss ratio performance of burst-mode receivers in GPON as a function of phase step, mode-partition noise, and BER. We assess tradeoffs in power penalty, preamble length, and pattern correlator error resistance.
