Group Social Patterns as Influenced by Removal and Later Reintroduction of the Dominant Male Rhesus

The dominant male in a rhesus monkey group was removed from the group and returned after a period of one month. During the period of his removal the social activities of the remaining males increased. Upon return the dominant male assumed his former position showing increased social activity whereas the activities of other males were reduced.
