Treatment of Unwanted Hair ( Nonmedical Interventions )

Patients seeking treatment for unwanted hair has become one of the most common reasons for dermatologic consultation. Th e causes of hirsutism and hypertrichosis are numerous, including hereditable factors, endocrine disorders, and exogenous drug therapy.1 Increased hair density in men and women may be localized or generalized. Patient concerns related to hair removal treatment include clinical effi cacy, safety, expense, convenience, associated pain, and other shortand long-term side eff ects.
