WORTECS: enabling untethered Virtual Reality through Optical Wireless Communication

WORTECS (Wireless Optical and Radio TErabit CommunicationS) is an European H2020 project focused on providing an ultra-high speed and ultra-low latency (below 3 ms) platform for virtual reality applications with optimal quality of experience. The project addresses these challenging requirements by combining high-speed Optical Wireless Communication, 240 GHz radiofrequency links, and Fiber Wireless Fiber with steering capabilities. WORTECS consortium is formed by top universities in the field of OWC, FWF and Terahertz design, and key industrial players. In addition, an innovative and efficient convergence layer has been developed to orchestrate at optimal performance all the technologies involved in the project.
