Study on the Multi-Path Laser Tracking Measuring System

This paper explains the operational principal of the measuring system, derives the mathematical algorithm for calculating the three dimensional coordinates of the object in motion, demonstrates the necessity of conducting self calibration and measurement for the whole measuring system, and makes the conclusion that the number of "different motive point on the moving object" should be over 9. It analyzes the measurement′s components and their operational principle. An analysis on the measurement errors is also included in the paper. The experiments showed the effectiveness of the measuring system. Measurement speed is around 0.5 m/s, while the measurement uncertainty is 0.062 mm. At the end of the paper, some suggestions for improving accuracy and reliability of this system are provided.
