Synchroqueezed wavelet transform based groundroll suppression

Summary In seismic exploration, groundroll often exists polluting land seismic data. This is a form of source-generated noise, and near-surface heterogeneities often scatter this kind of noise. Groundroll suppression is always a focused problem especially in engineering geophysics. In this paper, we utilize synchrosqueezing wavelet transform which can provide a high resolution time-frequency map and has strong reconstruction ability to remove the groundroll. We build three models to illustrate how our method works in detail. Two field data tests prove the proposed method can do a good job in groundroll suppression. Compared with the conventional groundroll suppression method, our proposed method can get a much cleaner profile and the removed noise contains much less reflections.
