This paper addresses the problem of no-reference quantitative assessing the overall contrast in an image. The purpose of this work is to increase the accuracy of quantifying the contrast for complex images. To this end, this paper proposes a new approach to assessing the overall contrast of objects in an image, which based on the analysis of the contrast value of simple images at various given levels of adaptation. Based on this approach, new techniques proposed to quantify the summary contrast of objects of complex multi-element images using the linear and weighted contrast kernels. The proposed technique is parameter-free, simple to implement, computationally low-costs, and can be recommended for image quality assessment in realtime mobile applications.
