Manufacture of concrete kerbs and floor blocks with recycled aggregate from C&DW

This paper shows a study about the utilization of recycled aggregates from the construction and demolition wastes. They were used to manufacture concrete kerbs and floor blocks which are used in pavements and floor slabs respectively. Two kinds of recycled aggregate were used. The first one presents in its composition a great percentage of concrete wastes. The second one has a very important amount of masonry wastes coming from clay brick factories. The concrete was made with 20%, 50%, 70% and 100% of replacement. The natural coarse and fine aggregates were replaced by recycled aggregates. It can be seen from the test results that the physical and mechanical properties of the manufactured pieces are not overly affected by the use of recycled aggregates in their manufacture. It should be noted that the surface finishing of kerbs with recycled aggregates is not as good as those manufactured with natural aggregates.
