Design of a 1 GHz power amplifier with high output gain for antenna measurement trainer system

In this paper a single stage power amplifier is designed at 1 GHz frequency. This amplifier provides high output Gain using optimized input and Output matching circuits using lumped components. The amplifier is used along with a VCO in order to increase the total output gain needed for the antenna measurement system. This Power amplifier is provided with a Vcc Supply of 5 Volts. Input and output circuits are matched to 50Ω impedance. Simulated and measured results are presented where the simulated Gain is 16.3dB while the experimental measured Gain is 16 dB. The final design was fabricated on Taconic PCB with thickness of 0.79mm and dielectric constant value of 3.2 and its dimensions are 5.3cm × 5.9cm.
