Modeling and Control of SSSC to Enhance the Power Transmission Capacity

This Paper discusses mathematical modeling of SSSC for determining the dynamics of the ac system. A currentcontrolled pulse width modulated voltage-source inverter is used as SSSC. Depending on mathematical modeling of SSSC, A Current Control Strategy for controlling the SSSC has been presented in this paper. The aim of this paper is to present a performance of Current-mode control of real and reactive-power of the system using a classical PI controller, implemented in the synchronous reference frame. A simulation study is performed in MATLAB to assess the ability of the Static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) for its application in Enhancement of Power transmission Capacity.
