A Contactless Switch for Cell Sorting by Area cooling**Resrach supported by Foundation.

We develop a flexible system that utilizes thermal convection for particle/cell sorting through a contactless switch in a continuous flow. In this platform, one microheater is applied to control the temperature gradient in the microchannel that induces thermal convection to change the particle lateral movement. An area cooling equipment is used to keep the safe temperature (under 37°C) for biosamples. Different from the normal thermal manipulation system, the lateral displacement of the particle is changed by the cooling temperature which overcomes the problem of the thermal damage, and the impermanent bonding between microchannel and electrode offers low cost for disposable use, which has a high potential in point-of-care detection and commercialization.
