FINITE-ELEMENT SIMULATION FOR MAGNETIC FIELDS CREATED BY MULTI-CHANNEL BRAIN MAGNETIC STIMULATOR

The brain can be stimulated non-invasively with externally time-varying magnetic fields. The magnetic fields created by a multi-channel magnetic stimulator are simulated using finite-element analysis software-ANSYS,and the results of simulation are compared with that of experiments. The comparison showed that the error rate between simulation and experiment was less than 6%.By analyzing the results of the simulation, the conclusion was reached:the shape of magnetic fields could be adjusted by changing the operating mode of the stimulator. The depth of the magnetic stimulation could be improved evidently while increasing the stimulating number of the coil.
