A rendezvous node selection protocol for drone-based data collection

With1 developing drone related technologies, a drone can use many types of applications. Terrestrial wireless sensor networks collect and send data by create an autonomous communication network among sensor nodes. In the case of some harsh areas such as islands, battle fields, and disaster areas, sensor nodes are portioned because communication links are broken. The drone can efficiently collect data at a partitioned terrestrial wireless sensor network. In this paper, we propose a selection protocol of a contact point called a rendezvous node that collects sensor data from all sensor nodes and sends collected data to the drone. The proposed protocol considers the life-time of the terrestrial wireless sensor network and reliable data transmission between a drone and a rendezvous node.
