A generic framework for recycling of battery module for electric vehicle by combining the mechanical and chemical procedures

By 2020, an estimated 250 000 tons of lithium‐ion batteries must be recycled. Research problem for proposing a generic framework for recycling of battery module is undertaken. A systematic study is conducted combining mechanical and chemical aspects for recycling of battery module. Six critical research directions are identified. Among them, the semi‐automation of disassembly/dismantling of battery module is the most important. A framework is proposed that attempts to account for research gaps in recycling of battery module for electric vehicle.
