Forget-Me-Not-controlling intercompany operations by intelligent electronic mail

The Forget-Me-Not (FMN) system relies on a programmable messaging system. Messages are organized into higher-level structures modeling ongoing activities in the real world. The key idea is that messages exchanged are not separate pieces of data, but parts of large tasks. FMN is a system for describing the messages and the higher-level activities in a way which makes it possible to better understand, follow, and control the ongoing activities. The system will be used experimentally in material deliveries to a Finnish car manufacturer with hundreds of suppliers, most of whom are in central Europe. The basic structure of the system and some simple applications are presented.<<ETX>>
