Research on the statistical modeling and simulation for interface reverberation

First of all, the reverberation statistical theory based on the unit-scatterer model is stated in this paper, and the interface reverberation model is established based on it. In the process of modeling, a new approach that the number of contributive scatterers changed with time is proposed, and the calculation method is simplified when using convolution of signal and scatterring characteristic function as a substitute for summing echo signal of each scatterer. Then, the continuous wave(CW) and linear frequency modulation (LFM) signals are used as the transmitted signals to simulate the whole model. The relationship of the reverberation frequency spectrum and transmitted signal as well as the probability density function of the instantaneous value and the amplitude is analyzed. At last, according to the reverberation statistical theory, the model is validated and can be used to simulate the real ocean reverberation effectively.
